IBPS Clerk Mains 2026 pattern changed: check this before you buy anything
This is the part most “best test series” articles skip.
The Mains pattern was revised in the 2026 notification (CRP CSA-XVI). The clerical cadre is now also called Customer Service Associate.
| Section | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| General / Financial Awareness | 40 | 50 | 20 min |
| General English | 40 | 40 | 35 min |
| Reasoning Ability | 40 | 60 | 35 min |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 40 | 50 | 35 min |
| Total | 160 | 200 | 125 min |
What changed: Quant went from 35 to 40 questions, its time went from 30 to 35 minutes, and the total went from 155 questions and 120 minutes to 160 questions and 125 minutes. Negative marking is still 0.25 per wrong answer, and every section is separately timed.
Why this matters: some platforms still show the old 155 / 120 numbers in their descriptions or older mocks. If your mock has the wrong question count or section timing, your speed practice is off.
The 30-second check before you pay:
- Open a free mock from that platform.
- Count the questions. Is it 160?
- Check the total time. Is it 125 minutes?
- Check Quant: 40 questions in 35 minutes?
If not, that mock is built for the old pattern. Always confirm against the official notification at ibps.in.

Test series reviews: Testbook, Adda247, Oliveboard, Smartkeeda
Testbook
Good for: big volume, live tests, All India Rank, and a long list of sectional and memory-based tests.
Watch out: Testbook’s own FAQ says Pass purchases are final and non-refundable. Do your free-mock check first.
Open the Testbook IBPS Clerk test seriesAdda247
Good for: the clearest listing of Mains 2026 full mocks at the new 160-question length, with free section tests to sample.
Watch out: the first ten listed Mains mocks are labelled Easy, so you will need harder tests later. The “500% refund on final selection” line is a marketing claim, so read the terms before counting on it.
Open the Adda247 IBPS Clerk mock testsOliveboard
Good for: a compact set: 10 full Mains mocks plus 30 Mains sectionals, in Hindi and English, with a free first mock.
Watch out: fewer full mocks than the big-volume platforms, and no difficulty tags on the listing. Confirm the mock length before you start.
Open the Oliveboard IBPS Clerk mock testsSmartkeeda
Good for: the budget pick. ₹349, difficulty tagging (Beginner, Pro, Expert), and sectional plus topic tests.
Watch out: half the 16 mocks come from the 2025 series at the old 155 / 120 pattern, and the 2026 ones were still “coming soon” when we looked.
Open the Smartkeeda IBPS Clerk Mains seriesIBPS Clerk Mains difficulty level of mock tests: how to use it
Here is the catch: “Easy” on one platform and “Moderate” on another are not comparable. Every platform sets its own scale.
So use difficulty as a ladder, not a label:
- Weeks 1 to 3: easy and moderate mocks. Build confidence and fix basics.
- Weeks 4 to 7: moderate mocks, plus one difficult one every week.
- Weeks 8 to 10: exam-level mocks only, at the exact 160 / 125 timing.
One more thing. Mock marks are a trend, not a prediction. Watch your section-wise accuracy and time per section, not just the total score.
How many mocks do you need before 27 December?
Not 400. Quality beats quantity.
With about 10 weeks left, a realistic plan looks like this (our rule of thumb, not an official formula):
| Weeks | Full Mains mocks | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | 1 per week | Fix your weakest section with sectional tests |
| 4 to 7 | 2 per week | Speed, accuracy, section strategy |
| 8 to 10 | 2 to 3 per week | Exam timing, stamina, no new topics |
That is roughly 18 to 20 full mocks. The golden rule: analysis time should be equal to or more than test time. A mock you don’t review is wasted money.
The ₹0 audit: test before you pay
In week 1, spend zero rupees and attempt the free Mains mocks from 3 or 4 platforms. Then score each one on this checklist:
- Pattern: 160 questions, 125 minutes, correct section timing?
- Solutions: clear explanations, or just answer keys?
- Analysis: does it show section-wise accuracy and time?
- Interface: does it feel like the real exam screen?
- Language: is your preferred language (Hindi or English) actually available for this mock?
Whichever platform wins your checklist is the one worth paying for.
📊 Mock scores tell you about the test. They don’t tell you where you rank against other aspirants. See where you stand.
Check Vihatara Exam PulseSo, which test series should you buy?
Pick by your situation:
- Tight budget: Smartkeeda (₹349) or a PW pass. Just check which Mains mocks are live.
- Want All India Rank and volume: Testbook or Adda247.
- Want the latest pattern from day one: Adda247’s 2026 full mocks.
- Prefer a smaller, focused set: Oliveboard.
- Hindi medium: Testbook, Oliveboard and Smartkeeda list Hindi and English. The Adda247 Mains mocks we saw were labelled English, so check each mock’s language.
Do not buy three series. Pick one main series, and use free mocks from the others for variety.
Red flags in test series ads
- “Guaranteed selection.” Nobody can promise that.
- A free trial that is much easier than the paid mocks.
- Mocks that don’t match the 160-question, 125-minute pattern.
- No detailed solutions or section-wise analysis.
- Unclear refund terms. Read them before paying.
